Te Dealey Class Destroyer Escorts were the first escort ships built for the US Navy after World War II. They were slightly larger and faster than the built before them, but had a relatively short life span due to the unreliability of the drone helicopter they carried.  Their armament included twin mounted 3 inch (76mm) guns, anti-submarine (ASW) rockets, a depth-charge rack, and six depth-charge launchers. Later improvements removed the ASW rockets and replaced them with nuclear-capable anti-submarine rockets and torpedo mounts that fired homing torpedoes. They were decommissioned in 1972 - 1973 and replaced by the Knox Class.
