The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II was originally designed
by McDonnell Aircraft as a fleet defense fighter for the U.S. Navy. It is
a two-seat, twin engined supersonic long-range fighter-bomber that first entered
service in 1960. By 1963, the U.S. Air Force had adopted it as its
primary fighter-bomber. The F-4 had a top speed of Mach 2.23, with an
initial climb rate of 41,000 ft/min. The F-4 set 15 world speed records in
its early years, five of which were not broken until 1975, by the F-15 Eagle.
Nearly 5,200 aircraft were built. It was used extensively in Vietnam by
the Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force. The F-4 remained in service through
1996 in its fighter bomber role, and reconnaissance and Wild Weasel versions
(anti-air defense) variants operated during the first Gulf War. The F-4 is
the only aircraft that was flown by both the Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thuderbirds Flight Demonstration Teams. Eleven
other nations operated this powerful, adaptable, aircraft.
There are 6 primary variants
of the F-4 that were flown by a wide variety of Navy, Marine Corps, and Air
Force squadron types in the 40+ year life of this versatile aircraft. Use the drop down
lists below to select the aircraft you flew or maintained, and add as much
information on your individual bird as possible to make your drawing really
unique. When ordering, you can request that we add up to 3 lines of personalization to your drawing.
This typically includes your name and rank, years with the squadron, then either
your call sign or job function. The choice is yours, use one line or
all three!
Our artists have the capability of drawing virtually all models of
the F-4, and cusomizing the drawing for most squadrons. If yours is not in
the list, drop us an email message with your request at

call on our toll-free number (888-465-5389) to discuss your aircraft of
interest. There is no additional charge for producing a new drawing.
Mads Bangso produces
