Nimitz
Class Aircraft Carrier Profile Drawings
by George Bieda
Construction of the first 3 Nimitz Class
aircraft carriers was originally authorized by then-Secretary of Defense Robert
McNamara during the Vietnam War. The latest in the class to enter active
service was the USS Ronald Reagan (hull number CVN 76), which was
commissioned on 12 July 2003, nearly 3
decades after
completion of the lead ship, the USS Nimitz. The USS George
H.W. Bush CVN 77, the last ship in this class, is nearing completion, and
is scheduled for commissioning in November 2008.
Profile drawings of all 10 ships in the
Nimitz Class are available. With incredible detail, George captures the
amazing size and stature of each enormous flat-top, complete with aircraft on
deck, the ship's patch, and Builder's plaque. Click on the thumbnail to view a larger image, then click
your browser's BACK button to return here. Please be sure to fill
in the "Years served aboard:" info when ordering. With that information,
George will draw in the Airwing, weapons, and radars appropriate for that time
period. Be sure to select your desired
print size and framing options when
ordering!

Listed below are each of the ships in the
Nimitz Class. If we carry other artwork of the particular ship, you can
click on its name or hull number to view and purchase the painting.
