Return to COGAP Page There are currently three types of patrol boats operated by the Coast Guard. All of these craft carry the WPB designation. The 123 ft. Island Class boats are actually modified versions of the former 110 ft. Island Class. These 8 boats were upgraded beginning in 2004. The remaining 41 members of the 110 ft. Island Class are based at stations throughout the contiguous United States and Alaska. Their design is based on a very successful British patrol boat. They were built to replace the older 95 ft. Cape Class. The 87 ft. Marine Protector Class coastal patrol boats were designed and built to replace the older 82 ft. craft. They are outfitted with the latest electronics and a unique stern recovery system for small diesel powered waterjet small boats. They are homeported up and down the East and West Coasts as well as the Gulf of Mexico. Also included in this section are the smaller Motor Life Boats and Utility Boats, as well as Rigid Hull Inflatables. These small craft perform many functions including Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Environmental Patrol, and Port Security Clicking on the Title and Artist links in the list below will take you to the individual print page, where you will find a larger image, and an order form.
