"The Tamaroa in the Storm" by Terrence Maley

The Tamaroa in the Storm by Terrence Maley

In 40 ft. waves and 80 kt. winds, USCGC Tamaroa rescued three people from the sailboat Satori, 75 miles off Nantucket Island, during "The Perfect Storm" in October, 1991.  Then, with virtually no rest, the crew was called upon to rescue the crew of an Air National Guard HH-60 helicopter, from the 106th Air Rescue Group, that ran out of fuel while also on a rescue mission. The Tamaroa rescued four of the five ARG crewmen, and was awarded the Coast Guard Unit Citation and the prestigiuos Coast Guard Foundation Award for her efforts.  This painting shows the 205 ft.Tamaroa weathering a storm at sea.
