Profile Drawing Prints of the EP-3E Aries II of the VQ 1 World Watchers by George Bieda
The VQ-1 World Watchers can trace their history back to the Black Cats of World War II flying the modified PY-5A Catalina. Other aircraft flown by the squadron included the P4M-1Q Marcator (1953), the EA-3 Skywarrior (1955), the WV-2Q Super Constellation, and the EC-121M Warning Star. The World Watchers spent many years forward deployed in various bases in Japan. The first EP-3 Aries I arrived at the squadron in 1969. It wasn't until 1990 that the squadron received its first EP-3E Aries II, which was built on modified P-3C Orion airframes. In 2012, the US Navy disbanded The VQ-2 Batmen (or Sandemen), VQ-1 became the Navy's sole reconnisaince squadron flying the EP-3E Aires II aircraft for Signals/Intelligence missions.
All of our ship and aircraft profile drawings are by George Bieda, a retired US Navy Captain with over 27 years of service. George calls upon his vast knowledge and experience, plus an extensive reference library to compose historically accurate drawings. Each drawing is individually numbered and digitally signed by the artist, making them a one of a kind item.
Each of our aircraft profile drawings represents a specific time period in the aircraft's life. That's why we ask for your "Years with Squadron." Our artist will configure the aircraft's profile and stats to conform to that time period. A range of years provides sufficient information.
Our profile drawings are printed with high quality commercial giclee equipment on heavy weight, acid-free, archival stock, using inks with lightfastness ratings of over 100 years when displayed properly. Each drawing is individually numbered and digitally signed by our artist.
To make your drawing truly unique, we will add up to 3 lines of personalization to the drawing (25 characters max per line). You can use all three lines, or just one or two, the choice is yours! There is no extra charge for this service! If you have any questions about personalization, check out our suggestions on our "Personalization Tips" page, or phone us at 609-264-5256.
Please keep in mind that the images shown here are examples of just some of the drawings we have completed for our customers.
