USS Missouri BB 63, affectionately known as "The Mighty Mo," was commissioned in 1944, and served admirably in WW II, earning 11 battle stars. She served as the sight of surrender of Japan ending WW II in 1945. She went on to serve in both the Korean War, and the Gulf War, after a 30 year deactivation. She currently serves as a museum ship in Pearl Harbor, Hi, alongside the USS Arizona Memorial. In Mr. Karvon's work, MISSOURI is depicted steaming into port in Guam in 1945
